I once spent an evening with the queen of spanish harlem, her lips were hard and sundried her hands were part and parcel. While you shivered by the homefire singing songs of my arrival I thought of you. It's funny how it is, people trade the painting for the picture, the key for the lock, when all they really wanted was somebody to hold on to. Well to pay for what I'd done I climbed a mountain in the sun, when at last it was completed I turned around, started to run. Still you waited and recited by the tidal waves and liars, the verses in your bible about the passion and the fire, and they said: It's funny how it is, people trade the painting for the picture, the key for the lock, when all they really wanted was somebody to hold on to. Try to understand, it's much easier to move than to stand. I once spent an evening at a park in south Reseda, the bench where we first met still smelled of sweat and missing fingers, and while I read to you my scarlet letter with tears in your eyes, I felt relief.

You do your best to relate with strangers. Terrible with names, but a terrific sense of humour. I stop myself from reminding you who I am so you can plainly see that I am a good man. Last night I dreamt I paid 100 dollars to lock the door and fuck you in a bathroom stall. You had gotten old, your bite was tender. I left myself inside the walls we rented. You fell off the sink and broke your jawbone as I woke up and picked a dozen roses. I passed you by... I passed you by last week where I was going, can't hear a word so many miles away. I cracked the road in two with my religion, need something else to satisfy my mind. need something else to satisfy...

Divining Rod 03:57
Don't believe everything that you hear- I don't remember where I said I'd be in a year. Am I even getting warm? Lately I don't know where to turn. I realize I could use a little something else, Better than a treasure map or whatever came before. My baby's gonna show me where it is, I'm told she can be a bit sensitive- divining rod. I don't know enough to talk about it too much, but I'm told there's another way love somebody. when you can't look, can't touch, I'm sure there's another way to love someone. Well my baby's gonna show me where it is, she knows she can be a bit sensitive- divining rod. She gonna tell it to me: what I didn't know before! I'm gonna tell it to her, what she didn't know before! Don't believe everything that you hear- I don't remember where I said I'd be in a year. Am I even getting warm?

Because I 02:54
Break into a run, sweat through my shirt. Get to a phone and I will rest assured assured- 'Hey I...' Behind on bills, I can't think straight, I think of you sweet sugarcane, you know I think I can relate to people taking pictures for their bedroom walls (little college girls and preteen moms). I'm not falling in love but I can't wait for you to come around and keep me awake. Because I think I can relate to dirty old men and their upskirt canes taking a walk down memory lane. I'm not falling behind, but I can wait for you to come around and take me away- I don't care about anybody but you. Living in the summer to the sound of your name, playing violins by an open flame, not combustible but I can't wait for you to come around and burn me away,
