City Kids 06:26
you don't like doing what you're told, you don't take shit from anybody, no. You and me babe, we're just a stone's throw from the city. From a city. Any city. I need you little one by my side, take you little one for a ride, you and me babe we'll make it right on time to the city. To a city. Any city. Get a little tired lately of my cage, got to make it out before it gets too late, I'm led to believe in fairy tales in the city. About a city. Any city. Got a nasty habit of breaking the bank. Makes me uneasy- lay flat on my back, it's said I believe to be a naturopathic remedy, for living in the city. For now I like to live in the city, it's got everything I need. Everybody keeps telling me that I'm blind. I keep saying the same in kind.

I'm not...(x2) not going to stand around. Not going to speak aloud about what you want all the time- pressure kills all the time. I can't tell you what you need to hear. I've got...(x2) I've got places and I've got people and I had patience but I ran out of reasons. If you need to leave, remember this, remember me before I lost the will needed to be what you want all the time- pressure kills all the time. I can't tell you what you need to hear.

Sleepwalker 04:09
You came, I guess I was awake, in another life you got me up, I took a lookout. (x2) "She took a lookout." (x2) Sleepwalker break a toe on a little white stone, going further than you ever have before, I'd like to clear a path for your midnight run, send you on your way before morning comes. You came, I can't believe you came, it's been so long since I've felt this way. Do you hear what I'm saying? Sleepwalker, maybe from out of town? I have so many questions whenever you come around. Do you like it here under northern lights? Would you like it more with someone by your side? You came, I can't believe you came, it's been so long since I've felt this way. Do you hear what I'm saying? I heard a rumour that I didn't like, that you couldn't stay awake if you tried. I don't believe it, I won't believe it, you look so peaceful walking by the riverside. Under lantern light, in another life... Sleepwalker break a toe on a little white stone, going further than you ever have before, I'd like to pick you up before your close up, send you on your way before you wake up. Sleepwalker, are you listening? Some people want to help you ease the suffering. Have a seat right there, maybe just take a rest, you and me right here, I believe it's for the best that you came.

Mission Hill 04:37
Meet me where you know me best- sidewalks stained with cigarette spit, the saints were here, this ground is blessed- it's good to be back home. It's been so long I've been away, all my life it's been the same: I look to where I stand and say 'where else can we go?' I know you know the feeling well we're all sometimes forced to pretend so keen to stay on promised land until the day we die. I know you know how bad it was to leave you there, it said as much in your letter- but that's all over now. Now, what's the first thing you can think to do? Close your eyes. What's the first thing? Tell me the truth. Thoughts will wander far and wide, I wonder would you be surprised that after all I still recall those faded little scars? Rendevous, sweet secret thrills, sunset, climbing, force of will, nights so high on Mission Hill, staring at the stars- You fell so far you couldn't hear my voice as I cried out, the rocks tore up your arm sweet gravity, it beat you down. So now I'm dying just to be here friend of mine, it's good to see you still alive, biding time, getting by like I remember. (x2) How long (x2) until we forget, (x2) forget about it? (x3)
5.
A hundred times a day, between breath seconds away, little thoughts creep in that I can't handle, vision starts to fade. 'Am I stuck in here forever, am I just running in place, living for the weekend working for that living wage?' Out here in the sand fingers bleeding glass, broken strings covered in dead skin from my fretting hand. A hundred times a day, between breath seconds away, and if I weren't pass too soon who then would take my place? Would you watch me grow so tired and fall right off the stage? Would you scream my name, lend a hand in keeping me awake? You're keeping me awake. (x4)
6.
It's hard to believe, impulses hard to control. So one can't help but wonder, but I bet it's harder to know your vulgar little secrets. Acting so tough never giving a reason, it'll keep you/ does it keep you up at night? Halfway meetings to discover the needs? silk caress of a perfect stranger pressure in your chest heart skips a beat? It must be so hard to breathe when with every breath you're lying through your teeth. It'll it keep you/ does it keep you up at night? It isn't hard to imagine, it's getting hard to ignore the times you're gone. The mind wanders while I'm here alone. What would happen if I- would you come back if I said? what would it matter if I- would you come back if I said 'You wouldn't ever find anyone better?' Would it keep you baby by my side, or would it keep you (x2) out all night? (x2)

Dirt 05:22
Follow me now, there's a place that I know for when the roads are all rivers that ruin our new clothes- It'll dry all our eyes, deliver like no other. It's places like this that take me away from the mess that I'm in. The boxes all marked 'returning to sender', the vehicles roll from one rut to another- I can't tell you why but I've been feeling so tired. Take me back to that place, so far away from the mess that I'm in. My friends have all split, there's blood in my spit, I can't seem to get myself out of the mess that I'm in. (X2) Hey come on out for tonight- he's only here for one night. Hey it costs just a little, and she plays guitar just like a criminal. Don't take anything with you- it'll just keep you down. You won't wanna stay down when it gets moving in there. The lights hit the stage and it's just like a dream. he's singing for us and I just wanna scream. I know what you're thinking and it might just be true, so I'm falling all over myself to be sure. My friends have all split There's blood in my spit I can't seem to get myself Out of the mess that I'm in. (X4)

Jeremiah 03:02
My first cousin Jeremiah, he went down to North Korea, came back in '54 to no applause. He looked just the same- his brain got rearranged, he believed he was the only son of God. Under robes and holy garb, lies the spirit and the mark of a quiet man. He once told me life is fleeting, keeping secrets makes you weary, there are better things to do than hate a man. He lays down near hills and rivers holds his hands to stop the shivering, tells his friends he's living off the land. Sometimes he hides under the covers singing 'We are all each other's one and only.' Jeremiah and his magpie Magdalene, he sighs- he's living in his car, and will be for a while. He'll take his story on the road with his woman and the clothes he made from old fatigues, as is the style. He puts the car in park, Him: 'do you trust me?' Her: 'Are we really gonna live forever' 'with a half gallon tank of gas, an old road map, and a stick to check the weather?' Hey Jeremiah, keep your rosary on tight, when you're driving all night. (x2) (x4)

Die Here 03:49
It'd be nice to see you make a date on the weeknights. It'll give me a reason to drive into the city sometimes. There are parts of it that are really quite charming once you've already moved on. Got some friends that live with me now, they knew that life the endless runaround. They caught themselves saying the same old thing- (x3) it's a nice place but I don't wanna die here. (X4)
